James Cameron, plans to produce the follow-up to “Avatar” as a even more engaging 3D experience. He is interested in shooting “Avatar 2” either at 48 or 60 frames per second, and having 3D theaters increase their light levels. As well, he would like to display the movie at this speed, eliminating motion artifacts that can cause motion sickness and eye fatigue.

He is concentrating on these areas because they are obstacles to the future success of 3D film making. Cameron believes, images strobing from lower frame rates contributes to people feeling sick when watching S3D movies.

“Avatar 2” is scheduled for release in December 2014.
